A pre-party photo shoot. Thanks Steph for taking all of these pictures! They turned out so cute!
The plan was to swim for the majority of the time and then to have a few other activities/games. I guess we have swam a lot this summer, or the kids just weren't in the mood, because swimming only lasted for about half an hour. Here are the girls in the pool though. Halle, Emily, Annie, and Leah.
Next, we did a little game. It was like a cake walk, but instead of cake we had prizes. I made circles for the kids to stand on and numbered them 1-8. I then played music and had them walk around the circle. When the music stopped everyone got on a number and whoever's number I called out got a prize. I wanted all of the kids to be able to get a prize, so we just played until everyone got to pick something.

Even James got in on the fun! Haha.
Next we opened presents. Halle is at the age where after each present she wanted to open it and play with it. She is very into pink and princess things and I think everyone knew that because she got a lot of princess and dress up things. She was VERY spoiled and has enjoyed playing with all her toys this past week.
Grandma and Grandpa Cole gave her this rolling princess suitcase. She LOVES it and has played with it every day so far.
I wanted to make a cute cake-you know the kind that good mom's make for the daughter's. The kind of cake where you spend hours working on, but its worth it when you see how excited she is. I spent hours looking online at castle cakes, but when it came down to it I settled for a simple ice cream cake. I just didn't feel up to it with a newborn and all. Sorry Halle! One of these years I'll make you a really cool cake. And I'll be sure not to make this cake again for you either since you let me know, "My pink frosting cake gross! Ems and I don't like it!" Thanks Halle!
Anyway, happy birthday Halle! We sure love you!

Oh my gosh, that's sad they didn't like the cake. Those pink castle cakes are intimidating. I've thought about making them before but never did it. My kids do the opposite when they open presents: They tear them open and go onto the next without even looking at what was in it!
OH Hals you are so cute. It looks like the party was a smash! Good idea on the cake walk game. That's a good idea for younger kids. I'm going to remember that. The top pic of Hals is so cute. I bet she is so in love with the princess suitcase. Do have any blessing pics to post?
Happy Birthday Halle!!! It looks like such a fun time was had by all. I love all the pictures! What a happy time!
